Beaches
How are the beaches in Croatia. My fiancee and I are thinking of going there for our honeymoon. She is thinking of going topless and/or wearing a thong. Is this common/acceptable in Croatia?

Apparently, topless is legal and accepted on all Croatian beaches but your Fiancee might just like to 'play it by ear' and see what other bathers are wearing. It wouldn't be nice to upset other beach goers if she's the only one wearing very skimpy clothing.

On beaches we visited where most were clothed, there were usually "nooks and crannies" where people were nude.
If you are American, the beaches will not be what you are used to-very little sand, mostly pebbly and rocks. Fun, though, in their own way, and very beautiful. |
Ditto the above posters : Topless was quite prevalent on Brac beaches (though there were many women sporting full one piece bathing suits) and of course, speedo type suits for all the men in the European fashion. There were special sections for those wanting an all over tan. Take rubber slippers or water shoes. Walking bare foot on the pebble beaches is painful. A roll-up straw mat will be useful to lay beneath your towel to lie on when beach beds aren't available. |
Troll alert!! Phineas posted the same question about Orlando, FL in January.

Thanks for the helpfull responses.
To islandbeachangel, didn't know I could only ask this question once. We do go on vacation at least once a year. Sorry to hear you don't approve. |

How thoughtful of you! Your girlfriend is so lucky. If you need to ask if about Croatia and the Topless/Thong issue then we have to assume that you've never visited Croatia before. So, how nice of you to worry about what your girlfriend should pack for the beach. Most boyfriends would be wondering about accomodation, restaurants or places to visit. You really are a sweetie :-D |
