Beach day from Paris

Is it feasible to drive and go to the beach from Paris for the day, ie how long does it take to get there with summer traffic and crowds, etc?

Wondering same myself. Any feedback?

The closest beaches to Paris would be about 200 kms away in Normandy, where the water's cold and the beaches themselves so-so. Traffic can be fairly heavy in summer. I would not make a day trip to the beach from Paris. Last summer, there was a beach set up right IN Paris, on the Seine. I didn't witness it myself, but I understand there was sand and room to sunbathe and dip toes in the river. If they recreate that beach this summer, that might be an alternative to spending a day on the Atlantic.

Why not make it an overnight (Saturday-Sunday so the air fare is reasonable) and fly down to the Riviera?

Keith

TGV is easiest, fastest (considering time to get to the airport, check-in, etc.), however won't give you loads of time at the beach. Overnight would be best.
