To me, Paula, your key phrase here was “both of us have been several times to London several times so basically know the lay of the land.”

So, come, spill the beans, and tell me how I might better know the lay of the land in London, a city in which I think I’ve spent a net total now of perhaps 2.5 days in the last ten years. So, I’ve plenty to learn. The aforesaid ladies, we understand, were not interested; dinna fear, lassie, that doesn’t mean no-one is. So how, exactly, does one hit the ground running? Something I’ve always wanted to manage to do but usually just wind up tripping over a crack in the sidewalk, dropping my bag, which opens, spilling the contents in full view of the surrounding populace. : - )

Meanwhile, you urge that I be proud of my accomplishments. Lessee…. I don’t need to take a trip anywhere to get bent out of shape, I manage to get out of shape without any effort on my part whatsoever. Top that, will you. : - )

It's interesting how things are open to interpretation. I didn't see anything negative in Paula's comments. She was only commenting on an observation.

I also think it's a shame they ate their meals at American fast food chains and saw few, if any, national sites. I also think it's great that they had a good time shopping and experiencing a foreign country. To each his own, and I think in some way, this is what Paula was expressing.

Some of you really do need to lighten up a bit.
