BCN - transportation from city
Looking for suggestions on best mode of transportation to get from our apt rental in Barcelona (Argenteria 6 08003) to the BCN airport on a Monday. Our flight to the US has a connection in Munich and leaves BCN at 8:20. thanks

You could take either the airport bus or the train...both leaving from near the Placa Catalunya.
When I was there this past November and had an early departure I took a cab out from the city..because it was early there wasn't a lot of traffic and the trip took about 30 minutes or less. I am sorry I am unable to remember the cost but less than 50 Euro |
We just used the RENFE train (changing at Barcelona Sante I think) We were heading for a fairly early flight and was fine...they start pretty early

If you have luggage take a cab - should be about 30 euros.

Ditto what danon said if you have luggage.
If you travel light, you could walk to Estacio de Franca (appr. 10min from your apartment) and take the suburban train (Renfe Rodalies) from there to the airport. But if you connect in Munich, I suppose you will take a Spanair or Lufthansa flight which should leave from the new terminal 1. In that case you would have to take a (free) shuttle bus from the airport's train station (close to terminal 2). That will add another transfer and a bit more time. But it's a dirt cheap option. Since you will be taking an intra-Schengen flight as the first leg of your trip there is no need to be at the airport hours before departure. If you get there by 7am it should give you more than enough time to check-in. |
Thanks for all the helpful info, everyone! We will each have a carry on rolling suitcase. Yes, its a codeshare flt Spanair/Lufthansa. Approximately how much time to take a taxi? what about the time for taking the suburban train?
|
taxi should take 25-30 min max.

Apologies, yestravel. I forgot that the routing of the suburban trains changed, and that there are no longer direct trains for Estacio de France to the airport. So it's not really THAT convenient.
A taxi should cost around €25, and you can flag one at Via Laietana, just a few meters from your apartment. |
Your apt is pretty close to the one we stayed at back in Nov 09; just a few minutes' walk to Jaume I subway stop.
We took the subway -> Renfe Suburban train combo from the apt to the airport. It cost one ride of the T-10 ticket, which means now it costs €0,785 per person; IMO, the cheapest deal in Western Europe. For details of how we traveled from the apt to the airport, see here: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...omment-6076937 |
Wow, yk -- quite a trip to BCN. Thanks for sharing it but I doubt we will want to do that so early in the am.
Looks like a cab may be the way to go at 6:30 am. Cowboy1968 said we could catch one on Via Laietana near our apt. Assume thata won't be a problem that early? thanks again |
