B&B's in Edinborough & Glasgow

We are traveling to Scotland in Sept. It will be my wife, my mother in law (a young 84 year old whom I love dearly) and myself. We will be driving a rental car. I am looking for recommendations for places to stay in Edinborough (3 nights)& Glasgow (2 nights). We will also be looking for a place to stay in the Glen Coe area for one night.

Any responses are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Jim

Highly recommend Joppa Turrets (note Turrets NOT Towers) B&B unless your mother-in-law has major stair difficulties (I have minor stair problems and the stairs to the 1st floor (above the ground floor) were no problem for me. It is located about 10-15 minutes by VERY frequent bus from downtown Edinburgh (the bus stop is about 1 - 2 blocks from the BB). It is right on the Firth of Forth - great sea views from all rooms. The owners are friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast has some nice choices instead of just eggs and bacon. I would not recommend driving a car in downtown Edinburgh but it is great for a day trip east of Edinburgh along the coast ( several really nice uncrowded castles and some great ocean views). They have a web site - let me know if you are interested and I will look it up.

There was a question earlier today about B&Bs in Edinburgh. Try the Sibbet House. We stayed in the Apartment and it was great! http://www.26abercrombyplace.co.uk/

I too stayed at Joppa Turrets and loved it. The owners were friendly, the rooms were clean, the food was tasty and there was a great pub less than a block away that offered a huge choice of beers/ales/lagers/stouts etc. All rooms are ensuite except 2 single rooms on the top floor. Those 2 rooms share a bathroom so it's perfect for a couple of friends traveling together who would like to sleep in seperate rooms.

I'm just back from Scotland. We stayed at Bonnington Guest House in Edinborough for three nights. The service was elegant, the room was large and comfortable, breakfast was good; it was a great value for the money (27 pounds per person). It is a wee bit away from the city, but is a 10 minute bus ride. We also went to Glencoe and I don't recall that there were many B&Bs. We stayed at the Camus House in Onich -- a little north of Glencoe. It had an outstanding view of the lake and mountains. There was another hotel across the street on the lake with a restaurnat and bar. I think it was called the Onich HOtel.
