BB outside Dingle Town

An Chara,
I am travelling with my two neices 15 & 17, and we'll be pushing through in one day from Dublin to Dingle (I know, yuk, but we have our reasons). Any suggestions on where to stay in a rural location outside of Dingle Town, just for something different?

We're booked later in the week into Emlagh Lodge in town. We looked at Slea Head but looks like not much doing there so early in the season.

I saw a website for An Bothar, a pub & BB near Cuas/Clothane. Anybody been there? Is it a tourist trap? Other suggestions for something not fancy but a great country location?
Many thanks. Kea

I went to Dingle in the summer of 2003. It was AWESOME! Such a great little town with very few people/tourists around. We stayed in a hostel in the middle of town and it was so homey and quaint. I spent a great deal of time walking along Dingle Bay and saw MANY guest houses. Emlagh logde is very nice, and right on the shoreline. The next time I go to Ireland (soon I hope) I will ONLY go to County Kerry and the Dingle Penninsula. I would stay in Dingle for a week! It's GREAT. You really can't get more rural than that unless you are looking for seclusion. Hope it goes well for you.

What time of year? I can recommend a farmhouse near Ballydavid but it is only open during the season. Or you could stay on the north shore of Dingle near Castlegregory at The Shores. That B&B is to die for!

The Shores. Still the top of my hit list after over 50 B&Bs. Say hi to Annette for me. http://theshorescountryhouse.com/

I can't comment on anything out of Dingle town but we stayed at Emlagh Lodge and loved it as well

I love the Old Anchor in Annascaul, a small village halfway between Tralee and Dingle town. Marie is a great host and cook, and the scenery is stunning. For something to do, take a walk along Lough Annascaul, or down the butterroad behind the B&B. And Dan Foley's pub next door has always been my favorite, though it does have new owners now.

The Captains quarters in Dingle is lovely. little bit pricey but very nice. You might not be able to book it as it is very popular. Dingle has a very nice modern Hotel about one a one minute drive from towm center. I stayed there four years ago. Last year we stayed at a B&B right across from the Capts. Quarters which was ok but I cannot come up with the name. Dingle does have decent parking so if you want to spend the extra euro the hotel is Ok.

Outside of Dingle, I too recommend the Shores outside of Castlegregory. It's one of the best B&B's we've stayed at. ((b))
