B&B Belgravia or Sloane Square Hotel??
Staying in London in early August with my daughter, and we've bookings at both the B&B Belgravia and the Sloane Square Hotel. SSH is slightly more since tax isn't included. We may or may not take advantage of the breakfast at B&B B. Any opinions on either of these hotels? We're planning a fairly leisurely trip with shopping, walking, photography, maybe a show and a one-day tour out of the city. Our "touristy" part of the trip will be earlier with a group coming in for the London Festival. I did want to stay in Bloomsbury, but the Morgan wasn't available, and considering every place will be packed, I didn't want shared facilities which I could get at the Ridgemount. Now, if they get a cancellation for an en-suite, that's a different story!! Your help is appreciated!!

Just returned from London this week. Can't comment on specifics of those B&B's, but we were quite take with Sloan Square. It is an interesting blend of residential and 'tourist'. The streets were fascinating to stroll with a great 'High' Street (downtown) and wonderful restaurants, as well as big, splashy high-end stores.
We were particularly taken with the Saatchi Gallery and quite by chance made our visit on the day (Saturday)there is a market in the square outside. The stalls at the market were wonderful, local and ethnic meats, cheeses, organic produce and lush baked goods. Our fellow market visitors were a great blend of local families, tourists from all over the world and Londoners enjoying their own city. There are little groups of tables set up and it was one of ther few experiences we had to chat with Londoners.

I stayed at the Sloane Square hotel in May of 2009 for six nights and loved it. So much in fact, that I booked a friend in there in Feb. for a couple of days and she loved it too.
Next time I'm in London I'll stay there again.
We ate dinner in their dining room twice, it was very good, a little pricey but delicious food and great service. The bar was a nice spot for a nightcap.
We found breakfast to be better next door in the Botanist, loved sitting by their big windows watching the world go by. This place was also a hopping place to have an after work drink by the looks of things.
There is a great Italian restaurant across the square and we went to a play at the Royal Court theatre which is also across the square from the hotel, as is the tube station.
Agree with all that LJ has said about the neighbourhood, I also really enjoyed the Saatchi Gallery and it is free. Very nice big name stores on Sloane St. and if you walk all the way up you eventually get to Harvey Nichols.
On the KIng's Road there is a great selection of shops and eateries at different price points so if Sloane St. is too rich for your blood then the King's Road will have something for you.
To the right of the hotel, across the square is Peter Jones Dep't store, part of the John Lewis group, some lovely things in there and there is a nice cafe on one of the upper floors.
I highly recommend this hotel, the staff were great, the beds were comfy, we had windows that opened and looked out onto the square, the decor in the room was lovely. Yes, the room was tiny but it's London. The bathroom was tiny too but was updated and very clean.

I'll be in London over the Jubilee and tried to book Sloane Sq (stayed there once before) but there was no availability. Got the last room at B&B Belgravia. So if you can wait til around June 8th-ish or so I can post a review.

Thanks everyone and janisj, that would be fabulous!! Both have very good reviews on Tripadvisor, thus the difficulty in making a choice. My teenage daughter would probably enjoy staying right in Sloane Square, I could go either way. Thanks for the descriptions of the area, that was just what I was looking for as well. It probably is a little rich for my blood, but seems to be well located and safe.
