Ditto to St.Cirq. Our experience with Auto Europe has been very good.

My wife and I spent three nights in May'04 at Le Chateau de Cottun.We could not have been more pleased in all aspects.If you did not stay there in Sept.,I suggest you do so next time.

We also stayed at Hote d'Argouges and really liked it. It has excellent parking, quiet, and convenient. The owner has very friendly little dogs that run all over the first level.

During the 60th Anniversary, we bypassed Versailles after a day in Paris and went to Roeun for 2 days then on to Bayeux (at the d'Argouges).

We picked up our military vet group for the 60th at Caen and as other posters have stated, the car rentals are across the street - very visible. I don't recall any in Bayeux but then we didn't ned a car as we stayed in Ste Marie du Mont with the group.

Wow, good to hear all these nice things about Hotel d'Argouges--we're spending three nights there in May.

I cannot say enough good things about Chateu de Cottun and its owner, Thomas. If you click on my name, you should pull up my review. It is easily the most wonderful place I have ever stayed. Thomas is wonderful, the setting is perfect, and, oh, I cannot do it justice. You will have such a terrific stay there.

Opps, just realized the original post is a little old. I was surprised Thomas would be open again, but happy. Shoudl have paid more attention.

d'Argouges is a great gotel in a great location. Driving to hotel is a little tricky, so pay attention. Entrance is thru an archway on a busy street that can be missed.

For a wondeful meal, try Le Lion d'Or. One star Michelin, last I was there.

This is a random question but if anyone knows the answer I'd be interested. This is one of several threads I posted before our trip to Normandy last Sept. The info received was most helpful,the trip was great & i posted a trip report. Several days ago this thread reappeared having been inactive for over a year. It is not a big deal I was just surprised to see it reactivated. Is a system anomaly or can people go back that far for a post? Bob
