Batobus "dining"
 

I realize that the Batobus isn't a sightseeing service or dinner cruise, but does anyone know if they have so much as a sandwich stand on board?

Failing that, what are your thoughts about the etiquette of grabbing a baguette and a six of Kronenbourg before embarking?

There are no food facilities aboard. I don't know about the etiquette of taking your own, but it seems like it might work. If it's not crowded when you're there, I'm sure it wouldn't bother anyone.

Does anyone here at Fodor's know if there's any rule about taking a picnic aboard?

You do realize that the BatOBus is basically a bus on the water, don't you?

NO, there's no food or drink on board, and while they might allow you to board with a sandwich - as on the metro or bus - I doubt you'd succeed with alcohol.

It's a bus service, but on the water. It's not something you use for sightseeing. Well, I guess you could, but really, the bâteaux-mouches are geared toward that. And some bâteaux-mouches I've been on had some food facilities, but I never made use of them so can't offer details.

I'm sorry, but I'm not "getting" this. Are you planning to get on the Batobus at the first stop and just stay on it until the last stop? Otherwise, you'll have to wolf down that sandwich (and I still think you won't get on board with alcohol).

I've personally never witnessed anyone on a bus in Paris eating a sandwich. Certainly not drinking a beer. On the métro, I've seen people snacking, but very seldom.

Bottom line, I think you should take the Batobus to wherever you're going and have a picnic there, not on a moving vehicle unless it has a food/bar concession.

We rode the Batobus in May.

They have a soft drinks machine, I think.

If you would like to bring a couple of sandwiches and a six pack, they won't mind as long as you pick up after yourself and take the trash with you.
