Bath suggestions?

Hi all, Our trip to the UK begins in less than a month! The first stop, after arrival in London, will be Bath.
With only 3 nights in Bath: so far I have made reservations for 2 full day trips; one to Stonehenge & Avebury, and one to Cotswold. This will leave one afternoon (arrive day) and two evenings to explore Bath.

Do you think this is enough time to visit sights in Bath?

Most sights in Bath close by 5pm or so; I am thinking of cancelling the day trip to Cotswold.

Also,we are interested in taking a thermal bath. Is the thermal bath the same as the Roman bath?

I think you should spend the day in Bath rather than taking the second day trip.
Re the spas, here is the info on the Roman baths and thermae bath spa from the city tourist site.

You will probably want to visit the Abbey and see some of the beautiful architecture (crescents)

One of my fondest memories of visiting Bath a few years ago was an afternoon I spent at Prior Park (http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main...-priorpark.htm) at National Trust designated site. It is a beautiful house and garden, perched on a hill with a gorgeous view of Bath and the surrounding countryside. There's a city bus that goes to the entrance. Well worth a visit!

The Roman Baths and the city itself is so interesting, you will want to be there during the day as well as evening. Just visiting the Baths can take quite a bit of time. I would not give up a day in Bath to do a second day trip.

I highly recommend a free tour of historic Bath given by The Mayor's Corps of Honorary Guides. They depart at 10:30AM every morning from in front of the Pump House. They also depart Sun-Fri at 2:00PM and in the evening Tue, Fri & Sat. at 7:00PM. The main area of Bath is not large and this walking tour gives a better perspective than the view from the buses.

I personally thought the evening Ghost walk was a waste of money. Some of the others might be more interesting or entertaining.

There are some tours that do a long day and include Stonehenge and some of the Cotswold villages. One company is called Mad Max and it is excellent. We left early AM and went straigt to Stonehenge. We had perhaps a couple of hours to see the stones - more than enough to walk all the way around plus visit the gift shop, etc. We then stopped in some other small villages (including Avebury Stone Circle), then Lacock for at least two hours, time for lunch and time to wander. Then we went to Castle Combe for a an hour or two. Back in Bath in time for dinner. It was a lovely day.

Every Saturday night, whether you need it or not. ;-)

I second the recommendation for the Mad Max tour to Stonehenge, Avebury, and Castlecombe.

I would definitely try to include the Cotswolds as it's so pretty. Have you thought about hiring a car so that you can prioritise what is most important. If I had to choose I would drop Stonehenge and see the Cotswolds instead, but that's a personal preference.
