Bath Rail Fares!!
Is there are reason why Bath-London rail fares are so high? They do not participate in Days Out from London, and fares go anywhere from around 18 pounds to 45 pounds. For the 18 pound fare, I would have to reserve a week in advance, and commit to a specific train. Otherise the day before I would have to pay 28 pounds.
I am trying to go London-Salisbury-Stonehenge (bus)-Salisbury-Bath-London. Is there something I am missing here? Help, as always, appreciated. I want to take the train so that I can leave London earlier and spend more time in Salisbury and Bath than a tour would allow. I tried putting in later train time (I had been thinking of leaving Bath from London around 7 p.m.) That did not produce lower fares. I am about to give up and settle for a Stonehenge - Bath bus tour that allows only a few hours in Bath. |
If you go and return via Salisbury, you can get an APEX fare for £16 and a cheap day return for £22.50.

Thanks Ron.
Where did you look to book those fares? |
www.qjump.co.uk. But, instead of clicking on "start search" on the first page, click on "more options". This will take you to a page that allows you to select "via Salisbury".

Thank you. What I am finding is that booking a round trip is cheaper than booking a single ticket.
