Bath Hotels
 

I am planning on booking a B&B in Bath for 1 night. I have enquired at a number of places and the following B&Bs/hotels have room available:
-Paradise House Hotel
-Tasburgh House
-Harlington's Hotel

I have also enquired, but not heard back from:
-Kennard Hotel
-Holly Villa
-Haydon House
-Cheriton House
-Villa Magdala

We are willing to splurge a bit on our accomodations but, of course, don't want to be disappointed with the results.

I have heard good things about the Paradise House, but also saw some negative reviews on Trip Advisor. For those of you that stayed there- was the walk to the hotel that bad? Is the street that the hotel is on very sketchy?

The Tasburgh sounds very nice as well but I am afraid it might be a bit too far to walk.

Any comments on the accommodations listed above?

Does anyone have any suggestions for Bath? Anyone?
Choices may be narrowed down to Paradise Hotel, or Cheriton House. Thoughts on either of these? Or other suggestions? Thanks!

Since you are desperate, I will tell you that the only place I've stayed in Bath is the Abbey Hotel--a wonderful place and right in the center of the old village. Don't know if this helps.

we stayed at Haydon House several years ago and really liked it. Gordon serves you tea upon your arrival in the pretty parlor overlooking the back garden. We walked into town from the B&B. Haydon House is in several guide books that cover special places to stay. I don't think you would be disappointed.

My husband and I just returned from our trip to England about 2 weeks ago, and we stayed at the Paradise House Hotel (in fact, you probably read my review on Trip Advisor).

The hotel is very lovely, and I would recommend it especially if you splurge on one of the more special rooms. The rooms and gardens are quite nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

It's not that the neighborhood is THAT sketchy, I guess it's more the fact that it wasn't what we were expecting. Bath is a university town and there seems to be quite a bit of student housing surrounding the hotel (noise or disruptions were not an issue however). I did not feel unsafe walking with my husband, even when walking back to the hotel after dark.

The hill up to the hotel is pretty steep. If you are in relatively good shape you will be fine. If you have a lot of luggage and you are coming from say, the train station, I would probably recommend a cab. Just walking from the hotel and into the center of Bath and back wasn't too bad though.
