Bath area accomodations
Party of four including two young adults will be arriving in London on a Friday evening. Planning to travel to Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath. Suggestions for accommodations in that area as well as other things to see. Will have all day Sat. and Sun. for travel. Flight to US is midday Monday from Heathrow.

All of what you want to do is very doable in the short time you have available. The last time I stayed in Bath (went to the Bath Festival), I flew into Heathrow on an early evening flight, stayed overnight in one of the motels surrounding the airport, picked up a rental car and was en route to Bath about 8 a.m. I stayed at the Francis Hotel on Queen Street in Bath and regard it as a really excellent choice because it a) has a parking lot for the rental car and b) is within walking distance of positively everything worth doing and seeing in Bath. It is well modernized, has a good restaurant, really decent rooms, right down to heated bathroom floors and towel racks. I tracked down The Francis on the web and here is an address you can go to if you want to explore it as a possibility. There is also information about Bath itself on the site.

http://www.hotelinformation.com/html.../bath/francis/

Lanny
Hi, I also stayed at the Francis back in 95. Very nice, rooms were large. More recently, 98, stayed at the Brompton House which was wonderful. Flew into Gatwick and took BritRail to Bath. Have down this from Heathrow as well. Great ride! The Brompton House is a former rectory, wonderful accomodations, wonderful hosts, great location, parking, they have a family size room. Highly recommended!!!!! Do not miss the Roman Baths and Sally Lunns!!!!!!!
