Bastion Deluxe Hotel Amsterdam/Amstel: Has anyone ever heard of?
Hi there - My significant other and I booked a room at the Bastion Deluxe Hotel Amsterdam/Amstel and was wondering if anyone has every stayed there before. I've read two reviews on the hotel: One positive and one negative and I'm nothing less than confused as to what to think about it! If anyone has stayed there, could you kindly offer your opinions on its accessibility (i.e. by train, underground, etc.) the service, etc. Thank you very much!

If you enter the hotel's postal code (1096bx)into the map search at http://www.routenet.nl/ you'll see that Hotel Bastion is on the very edge of the city limits probably it's actually in Amstel as the name suggests.
The Overamstel stop on the #51 Metro (sneltram) is closest and will take you to Waterlooplein, Nieuwmarkt, and Centraal Station. Figure about 10 minutes to Centraal Station.

Larry - Thank you for the reply. When I purchased the hotel, it said it was only 2.5 miles from the Anne Frank House, Red Light District and Van Go museum. Then I started reading reviews about the less than stellar service and how far the hotel is from civilization in Amsterdam. In any event, does anyone know if the public transportation runs all night in Amsterdam? I'd hate to think we're so far out, we'd have to take a taxi after a night out on the town. Thanks!

The last #51 sneltrams leave Centraal Station after midnight at 12:11 and 12:26.
The #355 Holendrecht night bus runs twice per hour after that.
Full info is at www.gvb.nl
Once you master the public transportation system I don't think your hotel's distant location is such a big deal. I think you should buy some 24, 48, and/or 72 hour transit passes. They allow you to go anywhere GVB the bus, tram, and metro system goes 24 hours a day. The 72 hour pass is EUR 13.
