Bastille Day in Beaune

I know there are wonderful celebrations all over France on this day. I will be in Beaune at this time and was wondering if most everything is closed for this holiday.Should I try and make reservations at my hotel for dinner or do you think most sites/restaurants are open. If not, what suggestions do you have for this day if most of the sites and attractions are closed? A picnic and some r& r?<BR>My hotel there is currently closed and I cannot obtain an answer from them right now.<BR>

I notice from doing a cursory search on the web that Beaune has a music festival then (last year was the 18th, so I can only presume that there will be a 19th); keep checking www.festivalbeaune.com. In addition, a British site said there was a baroque buffet in the gardens of the Hospice of Beaune following the performance of an opera. So I'd guess there's stuff going on in Beaune. I used Google: Beaune le 14 juillet, so I got lots of French sites, and most of them outdated. Why don't you write the Beaune Bureau de Tourisme, rue de l'Hotel de Dieu, 21200 Beaune, France. You have plenty of time to get back information. (Phone: 011-33-380-26-21-30) If you are a musicmaker, this should thrill you!

Just FYI:<BR><BR>The term Bastille Day (no such equivalent as Jour de Bastille) seems to be nearly unknown in France. Call it <BR><BR>le 14 juillet "luh kah-torz jwee-yay"<BR><BR>or Fete Nationale "fett nah-see-oh-nahll"<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR><BR>
