Basque Region, still no reservations!
All my choices so far have been already filled in San Sabastian BUT I am thinking maybe we would be better suited for the French Basque region. We are not late party people that I feel S.S. seems to provide. Does anyone have any suggestions for this area? Thanks, so much!

We really enjoyed Villa Soro in San Sebastian. "Late party" life is certainly available in SS, but not necessary. The pinxtos are readily available from about 7:30 pm.
I only spent one day in Pays Basque, but thought St-Jean-de-Luz would also make a nice base for the area; easy to navigate in & out, central location for the area, beautiful small town with restaurants, shopping, and beach. |
Stay in SS--it is special.

Have you checked the agroturismo b&b's out in that area?
We stayed here and while it was a bit far from the main road, it was one of the most charming places ever, with a huge private balcony overlooking green hills spotted with sheep, etc. http://www.nekatur.net/iketxe |
We spent one week in a gite right outside of Espelette. It was a wonderful way to see the French and Spanish side of the Basque region. Nothing was to far.
The price was excellent but this was 2 years ago. Gite N. G141012 Chez Saint-Martin Dominique 284€ (260€ + fee and insurance) per week |
In French Basque we stayed in the beautifull small village
of Ainhoa at a wonderful Hotel ITHURRIA |
I am also looking for a hotel in San Sabastian, except for during the month of June. Our first choice would be on the beach, but would welcome other ideas of areas to stay. This would just be for a couple of nights and will be traveling with our adult children who are about 30 years old.
