Basque Country hiking

My wife and I will be visiting the basque coastal area based in st jean de luz end ing with a day in Bilbao then headed for a week of hiking in the Basque
.Country
We want to stay in one central location preferably a quiet villa with kitchen
Can you suggest a town or two that would work. We like aggressive hikes.
Thanks

Ralph

When will this be happening? I would look at a Casa Rural in or around Hondarribia and Irun for visiting the Pays Basque region with a car.

Depending on where you plan on hiking, you can base yourself near the Gorbeia, Aralar or Urkiola Natural Parks, or Aitzgorri, which will soon be named a nature park.

You can check possible accommodations at: www.nekatur.net

I love hiking and go every week to the mountains of the beautiful Basque Country. Urkiola, Gorbea or Aitzgorri mountain areas would be perfect for your purposes. Near Urkiola is Durango and many rural houses (nekatur is an excellent source), near Aitzgorri you may want to stay in Oñati and in Gorbea, Igorre would be fine. Or even Bilbao and its vicinity. I have some pictures of my hikings on Pinterest, http://www.pinterest.com/toursbybasq...asque-country/
