Base in southern spain- seville or malaga or granada ?
Please advise where to make a base in southern spain to make daytrips around ..I am not too interested in beach but more in just soaking up the culture of the place in some nice warm weather with hubby and my baby.whcih is most convenient and is it better to rent a car or take taxi or maybe public transport( maynot be easy with baby...no idea at this point"
Thanks |
IMO Seville hands down on all counts
most interesting city by far IMO and great base from which to hop to Cordoba - astounding Cordoba, Granada, Jerez de la Frontera for the Sherry Houses and tours and the Andalucian Riding School horse shows and practices and the white hill towns and Ronda - gorgeous Ronda with a gorge bisecting town. |

I'm in agreement about Sevilla. BUT, what time of the year are you planning. I love the hot temps in Sevilla. Yet, it can be up to 45 Celcius in summer. PalenQ listed a bunch of the closeby places. You can also drive over to Portugal easily. Cadiz is worth viewing, El Puerto de Santa Maria in my fav but it's mostly because I lived there. Sanlucar de Barrameda (sp?)is historically plus the great food is wonderful. You can take a ferry across to the Cota Doñana which is one of the largest natural park in Europe. Or, you can chill out in Sevilla on the many cafe terraces. Blackduff |
I am going in end nov-early dec...i understand that seville and sevilla are same...
anyways how is Madrid..do u think we shd include that in our 8-9 day trip ? Thanks |
Seville = English version
Sevilla = Spanish version Madrid is very nice too but with a baby, it's not the best. There will be a lot of walking. But if you choose Madrid or Sevilla, the baby will be received everywhere you visit. Kids are kings in Spain. Quite often, the waiters / waitresses will pick up your baby and have a good look.
