Base for touring andalucia

Planning a trip to Spain for fall of 2004 and am having a hard time choosing what to see! Have narrowed it down to andalucia but I am unclear as to whether it is better to pick one spot (like Ronda) and stay there 5-6 nights and tour all the pueblos blancos, seville, granada from there OR whether to move around spending 2 nights here and there, i.e, 2 nights seville, 2 nights ronda, 2 nights granada etc. . . Advice appreciated. It's such an amazing country, so much to see it is hard to choose!! Thanks in advance.

I would recommend staying in a couple of the larger cities - there's way more to see and do and you can easily do Ronda as a day trip. You need to be careful about driving times in these areas - highways allow fast travel but this area is very mountainous and cross-country travel times on smaller roads can be much slower - 35/40MPH vs 70/75 or so. We enjoyed Sevilla and Cordoba the most - but also spent 3 nights in Granada and had plenty to do.

have a great trip!

Thanks NYtraveler! Did you get a chance to do any driving around the white towns while you were there?

Ivy,
We just returned and actually almost got STUCK in the white town of Cadcares, but a local backed us out. (I suggest parking on the edge of the towns and walk in.) Loved the town though, as well as the white village of Frigiliana (just a few miles north of Nerja) and Vejer de la Frontera. Do a search in here for white villages...Maribel is especially knowable and has great suggestions.

How long in total are you planning to go? That might determine where to go and where to stay.

We stayed in Marbella for several days and drove from there to ronda and a couple of others. It was interesting - but not up to any of the larger cities.
