Bars & Restaurants in Madrid Spain

My wife and I are going to Madrid and Barcelona the first week of April. We would love to have an advice about cool bars and restaurants to go to at night, we love jazz music!!
We do not like fancy restaurants, just local food and good atmosphere.
Thank you!

Café Central is the best live jazz venue in Madrid, just off vibrant Plaza Santa Ana in the heart of town. Only top national and internatinal artists and changing every week. Great atmosphere and quite ok food as well. Have spent several memorable late nights here: http://www.cafecentralmadrid.com/

The first time here in 2009 we saw these guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CnUJLsKVW8
and brilliant Javier Colina with super star Silvia Pérez Cruz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLJqn6CNnPQ

Populart, a bit further down the street, is also a fine place: http://www.populart.es/

You are then also very close to two of the best tablaos/flamenco restaurants in Spain, only top of the shelf artists perform here.
Casa Patas: http://www.casapatas.com/
Cardamomo: http://cardamomo.es/

Rising star Macarena Ramirez in Casa Patas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdWH02jklOM
Powerhouse Paloma Fantova in Cardamomo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vcqy7MyvZQ

And the bar scene in Barcelona is as good as it gets, come back with that later. You can start with famous Boadas: https://www.worldsbestbars.com/bar/b...-center/boadas

And for local food and good atmosphere, there are not much better options than lunch in La Perla, as Barcelona as it gets: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...Catalonia.html

Or a late night dinner in fabulous Xemei, almost just across the street: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Lvcjtoh0tU&t=286s

Both are in Poble Sec, in the center of town but outside the most beaten track. Close to many fine theaters etc etc., highly recommended: http://www.barcelonaturisme.com/wv3/...to-bodega.html

We have been to Madrid many times, but this is the first time we stayed in the Chueca area. The two places we liked the best were on the same block Calle Libertad

A couple of more tips for <local food and good atmosphere> in Barcelona and Madrid.

Barcelona.
Ca l'Estevet, one of those timeless places:
http://www.restaurantestevet.com/en/
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...Catalonia.html

Can Culleretes from 1786, the oldest in town and still very popular with locals, not much beat the no fuss food and atmosphere here: http://www.culleretes.com/en/

Madrid:
Casa Revuleta, the best cod tapas in town and as typical Madrid as it gets: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...ta-Madrid.html

La Taberna de Antonio Sanchez from 1830, one of the old classics: http://www.tabernaantoniosanchez.com/
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...ez-Madrid.html

And Casa Alberto from 1827 is always a must, both traditional and cutting edge, one "sol" in the Guía Repsol, the Spanish eqvuivalent to the Michelin guide, and very affordable for what you get. Average 35€ for a full meal. Also a fabulous little tapas bar in front of the restaurant: http://www.casaalberto.es/en/the-restaurant.html
