Where are you staying?
Generally, I would rather take a wine tour... They can tailor the winery choices to your tasting preferences and what makes sense geographically. They make the reservations (and can possibly get you into wineries that wouldn't otherwise be open to you), provide commentary and translations if needed, etc. The tour cost is defined and tells you what's included and what isn't. Unless you negotiate with a taxi driver, you won't know the final cost until the end.
