Barging on L'lmpressioniste in France

Recently returned from a barge trip in the Rhone from Avignon to Adge on L'Impressionsite. It was a great experience. The barge had 12 passengers, it can hold 14, and it was a compatible group. But the crew really made an effort with great meals and enthusiastic companionship throughout the voyage. The scenery was really beautiful, springtime. Just DO it.

Hello, glad you enjoyed the trip...
could you provide some detail on what the daily itinerary was (off the barge)?
or is there a website to go look at?

We loved our small barge trip in Burgundy. You can look on French Continental Waterways for their trips. And as the OP said, the crews of these are absolutely terrific in making sure you enjoy every aspect of the trip. We had day trips to nearby towns Dijon, Beaune, etc. and to wine tastings at chateaus.

We were given tours of the Papal Palace in Avignon, Arles,Aigues Mortes and the most beautiful, I thought, the city of Pezenas. Since we were being met in Montpelier we did our own tour of Montpelier but it was not a terribly interesting city. There were bikes on board, we had joggers who went running every a.m. There were many migrating birds in the marshland in the Camargue and we saw the white horses and black bulls of the region. The food was really imaginative and good and it was an open bar with different kinds of wine and cheese at every meal.(except breakfast)

I did one of the barge trips in Burgundy years (mid 1980s) ago; it was wonderful and the food was great on board. A small barge, maybe 12 passengers. Highly recommended for a leisurely vacation.
