BARGAINS!
We're going to Rome in December! How significant are the savings on shoes and bags in such stores as Gucci, Prada, Tod's, etc.? How about cashmere sweaters by Italian designers?
Thanks!
Edna

Hi Edna: No bargains except the ones you'll get because the dollar is strong. Prices on "names" are similar to New York. There are some outlet stores and some website which have been mentioned on this site. Try a search on "Rome shopping" on this site and others. BTW, sales are in January.

Carol's right--the prices are about the same. If you spend more than 300000 lire in any one store, though, you can get a VAT refund.

Edna:

The prices on Tod purses and shoes in Capri and Bellagio were at least one
half of the prices here in the United
States. I am still sick that I did not
buy a purse that retails at over $1,000
at Saks without the tax. Buy! Buy! Buy!
