Bargain Berth - Does this include ticket to travel?

Urgent information needed regarding the Caledonian Sleeper Bargain Berths! I leave tomorrow so I'm desperate. I've read in so many places that the Bargain Berths for 19 pounds are such a good way to get from London to Edinburgh.

I emailed Scotrail to check that these costs are all inclusive, meaning I don't pay anything else to travel. But that was last week and I didn't hear back from them.

So I made a booking for return tickets, 19 pounds one way 29 the other.

This morning (1 week later) I get this email:

"I can confirm that the low cost Bargain Berths are merely a berth reservation and not a ticket to travel. To travel on the Caledonian Sleeper you should purchase a ticket to travel and this can be done at any staffed station or via our Telesales Department..."

I'm in Australia so have to wait 7 hours before I can call them. In the meantime can anyone advise me on what I should do? Can I get my full refund back? I mean the website is SO misleading!

What I don't get is why is everyone saying "I went from London to Edinburgh for only 19 pounds"?

Would anyone who knows or can confirm this please reply? Thanks!

The Scotrail web site clearly indicates that bargain berth fares include the travel fare. The bargain berths cost from £19 to £49, whereas the standard sleeper supplement is £34 (less than the dearest bargain berth). The bargain berths sound a good deal to me.

I've travelled on a "bargain berth" for £19 within the last 3 weeks. No other charges.

Thanks everyone. I just returned from London yesterday, had a blast!

The confusion with Scotrail was due to an incompetent customer service person who scared me almost to tears with that email. I had to make a few phone calls from Australia to clarify the matter.

Apart from that, the train ride was fabulous. Very worth every pound spent! Coach was clean, bunk beds were comfortable, ride was smooth and quiet, breakfast provided. Couldn't ask for more.
