Bardolino or Sirmione?

Last year we fell in love with Bellagio and thought to see Lake Garda this June. Between Bardolino and Sirmione which will have a similar atmosphere and size? A view of the mountains is also important. Any opionions on views, hotels, transport, etc. is greatly appreciated-I look forward to the variety of responses, they really help a first timer make a decision. Thank You

We like Torri del Benaco, on the eastern shore. It's convenient to Verona (if you have a car), to Bardolino if you wish, and there's a convenient ferry to the western shore. Hotel Gardesana provides a very good quality/price ratio (take a room with a balcony overlooking the lake).
http://www.hotel-gardesana.com/index_eng.htm

Sirmione is way more upscale (and also very nice).

Paulo

Bill, If you want the east shore for the reasons that Paulo mentioned then his advice is excellent. If you want it to look like Bellagio then you have to get all the way north on the lake to Riva del Garda--that is where the Dolomites meet the Lake and it is much more spectacular.
