Venice - water taxi from hotel to airport
We are staying on the Grand Canal and have found a water taxi service that will pick us up at the hotel dock at 7:00 am to take us to the airport. Has anyone used "stik Travel" also under venicewelcome.com or Richiesta Taxi? With a 10:00 am flight we felt a private water taxi was best. Any thoughts?

I also made a reservation for a water taxi using that website. It was recommended by a couple of TA forum users. Our price for 4 passengers is 95€, just as the website indicates. You are emailed a voucher to give to the taxi pilot (driver?). The email says we won't be charged until 10 days before the pickup date.
I think "richiesta" is a descriptive term, not a proper noun/name, as I attempted to do some googling on that.
I decided not to bother taking a vaporetto up to Piazza Roma, then the bus, and I didn't like the posted departure times for the Alilaguna boat nor the duration of the trip.
We will be using our voucher in late September.

Hi pww12. Don't know if you just want a water taxi, or if you are taking a water taxi because you are unsure of other transportation. If it's the latter and you are interested, you might check out my explanation of how to get thru the Venice airport, how to take the bus to P.Roma, & how to take a water bus (vaporetto) to your hotel in Venice. As I'm sure you are aware, your hotel/apt. owner will advise you as to which vaporetto stop is best, or since you will be on the Grand Canal, the hotel may have its own dock.

Definitely a water taxi is easier, if money doesn't matter. If money does matter, the other method is doable & we found it fun to be among the locals on the vaporetto as we entered Venice!
Another note - according to what I have read on this board, I don't think pre-reserving a water taxi is necessary.??
Enjoy Venice, Julie

We had the same impression of Travelnut (thanks fr the confirmatin that it is legit and you are doing the same thing)but thanks to Zerlina I may be reconsidering the bus. We are 3 min. from Piazzale Roma so for 5 E each (20E vs. 95E total for private water taxi) that's very tempting. Zerlina, At 7:00 am, will there be any traffic problems via bus -- sure don't want to miss the plane!

Julie - thanks too for your info. We are coming from the hotel for a 10:00 am flight (Sept. 19) so our concern was getting to the airport and not missing our flight. I think we do need a reservation for them to come to the hotel's dock. We come to Venice from Florence via train. Our hotel is Carlton Grand Canal, walking distance to both train and P. Roma. Timewise, it sounds like the water taxi or bus may be best bet for early am. But I appreciate all these replies!

pww12: Make that 12 Euro instead of 20 for four people. The ATVO bus costs 3 Euro per person, and it has luggage stowage. At 7:00 a.m., I would think most of the traffic is coming *into* Venice, so the bus ride should be 30 minutes at most.

Your htoel is quite close to Piazzale Roma--no vaporetto necessary. It will be easy to take a bus fromt there. Also there are land taxis there as well, which might be cheaper and faster than a water taxi.
