Barcelona/Figueras/Gerona: car rentals
While still in the flexible stage of planning a 5-6 day trip to Barcelona with a stop off to Figueras (Dali museums) I have run into a stalemate for car rentals.
I want the car for only 2 days with a pick-up or drop-off on a Sunday or 1 November but all the agencies I've checked are closed!
Does anyone have any tips? I'd hate to have to go the airport when travelling by train just to pick up a car

Sorry I was unclear.
Friday night train from Paris
Sat Figueras or Girona pick up car
Sun Figueras or Girona drop off car train to Barcelona
Mon Barcelona
Tues Barcelona
Wed night train to Paris
Even if I reverse the order and go straight to Barcelona I am unable to return the car on Wednesday since it is the 1st of November.

The drive from Girona to Barcelona is really not long. By the time you found the car rental office and caught a train, you could already be in Barcelona airport, dropping off the car there if there isn't an office in town open. It only costs a few euro to catch the train or bus into Barcelona from BCN.
However, there is an airport in Girona and probably it has a bus to Barcelona. Check to see if the Girona airport rental office is open, and see if you can hop on a bus there to central Barcelona.
