Barcelona-your favorite fine dining restaurant
I was in Spain about 2 years ago and will be back in September. We will be in Barcelona for 4 days, San Sebastian for 3 and then meeting friends in a town in Rioja for the remainder of the trip. In San Sebastian we are returning to Arzak and Bogedon Alejandro and have reservations at Extebarri. For our remaining meals we will probably have pinxtos.
In Barcelona, I plan on returning to my favorite tapas places ( Cal Pep, Paco Meralgo, and Tapac 24) but our only reservation right now is at 41. I would like to plan 1 or 2 meals at some incredible Barcelona restaurants. I went to Comerc 24 and Espai Sucre last time so I would like to try something new. I am leaning toward Cinq Sentis but really want to know who is doing the best food right now. I am a chef so it is the focus of the trip. Also, I would love a recommendation for a casual "mom and pop" type restaurant in Barcelona. Has anyone tried La Cova Fumada? Thanks! |
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but we loved Cerverseria La Catalana in Barcelona when we were there this past October. It is a Tapas restaurant, & hands down was our favorite. We ate there twice, & it is always crowded but the wait is worth it. Address: Mallorca 236 in Eixample.
We also enjoyed a seafood restaurant, Rosalert, Avgda. Diagonal 301. You can read details in my trip report. Also recommend el Mato de Pedrables, Bisbe Catala, 10, across the street from the monastery at Pedrables. We aren't chefs, but I hope you like any one of these if you decide to try them. |
We also enjoyed tapas at Cerverseria La Catalana. Another place we stumbled upon while wandering through the Borne area was Petra @ Carrer de Sombrerers 13. This is nothing fancy, but a cute little place, where menus were labels on wine bottles, and chandelier's had silverware hanging from them. We really enjoyed our meal there. It was more of an off-the-beaten-path kind of place.

You might be interested in my report from a trip last March; our best dinner was at Cinc Sentits; I did not cover it in this report because there are so many online reviews.

Thanks Koo and MfNYc, I have eaten at Cerveseria Catalana. but I will definitely look into the other places.
ekscrunchy-It looks like we like many of the same places. We were deciding between Moo, Hisop and Cinq Sentits. I think I am definitely going tor try and book Cinq Sentits and if we have time we will consider one of the other 2 as well. |
Looking over our schedule I've realized the only open meals we have are on Sundays and Mondays. I guess Cinq Sentits is out. Moo and Alkimia are some possibilities I've found. Are those good choices or can someone recommend another?

We had lunch at Alkimia this past May and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was fantastic, recommended wines lovely, service outstanding. All that, but it didn't feel stiff or snooty. It was a splurge for us, but we were very happy with the meal and experience.
