Barcelona - Where to stay? Old Quarter
Hello.
Will be in Barcelona from 17th Sept - 21st Sept 2012. Currently looking for the best place to book an apartment. Someone had mentioned to stay 500 m away from the old town however not sure if that is because it is always noisy or only during the Festes de la Merce (I have not seen the program yet however imagine we will not be there for the bigger and louder events). Eitherway, we are hoping to stay somewhere central, close to everything and not too noisy. I have heard that Pl Catalunya, Pasea De Gracia, Born and Barrio Gotico are good areas. Currently trying to decide on which is best? Also, am travelling with a boat lover and have found an apartment right on Ronda Del Litoral (near the port just behind Paseo de Colon) but not sure if this is a good/bad location. Any advice is very welcomed. Thanking your in advance. |
If you want quiet, I'd go for an apartment around Passeig de Gracia. All the other areas can be considered in the "old town" and tend to be crazy during festivals.

Ronda Del Litoral is a busy highway that runs along the port. I wouldn't put it near the top of my first choices for somewhere to stay in the city.
You can check out Splendom Suites in Barcelona (www.splendomsuites.com). They have two locations in Barcelona, one in Madrid. The accommodations are excellent and the prices are decent. |
Hi barcelonagal. I recently booked an apartment in Barri Gotic. I think this is the right decision and so looking forward to exploring the intricate alleys and looking at the surrounds.
Thanks for your feedback. Will be a great trip I hope! |
take a pocket light or torch to avoid man's best friends gifts let alone those calling for God without the big white 'phone.
