Barcelona: Where do locals go for tapas and seafood?

I am looking for authentic eating experience...menu in English is not a must.
Any good basic places with FRESH food, and any places for a nicer evening out without a huge price tag?
HOW IS the Monchos chain? Monchos Marina, and then the locations in Gracia and Eixample?
Thanks.
A

cmeyer54,
Would you suggest going to Cal Pep instead of Can Majo?
How expensive it it?
Finally, DO they TAKE reservations?
THANK YOU!
Agnes

Cal Pep was amazing, but doesn't take reservations (unless you have a party of 6 or more or are Claire ). We waited 45 minutes to get seated at the small bar and I kept wondering, will this be worth it? IT WAS! Tuna Tartare and Potato Tortilla were the absolute winners for us!

As you now know, there are no reservations. The place is small, easy to miss. Get there about 15-20 minutes before opening time to queue up outside! Food is amazing....
