Barcelona-URGENT

What is the best places to get from Barcelona to places such as Tossa de Mar, Sitges, Girona & Figueres? I've looked up train tickets and have only found tickets to Figueres and with a very inconvinient time. We can't drive manual (I think), and so an auto car will be $550 :( Please help..I leave this saturday.

Serge

I meant to say, what is the best and cheapest way....

There are trains and buses to all these places, there are Cercanias trains to Sitges every half an hour and almost the same to Girona and Figueres. There are no trains to Tossa as it has no station, but this is the website of the bus company running that route (it's also in english) :
http://www.sarfa.es, I'm sure you also have buses to Tossa from Girona and Figueres because they are quite near.

do you think it makes more sence to take a Girona/Figueres full day tour from Barcelona, or try to get there myself?

laclaire Aug 28th, 2006 09:00 AM

There are rodalies (cercanías. .regional trains) to Girona pretty much every hour, and Figueres also has them. If you want to do both in a day, though, I suggest an organized tour, as getting from Girona to Figueres is not so easy.

If you need any other urgent stuff, you can always e-mail me. I get back to BCN on the 2nd (Sat).

We used a tour to go to Girona and Figueres (sorry don't remember the name, found it on a brochure at the hotel. It worked fine for us - we had several hours in Girona, which was a lovely old town to walk around and eat lunch - then we went on to Figueres and the Dali museum. This was when we really were glad we used the tour - we went right into the museum - we met some other people later that had come up on their own to see Dali and never were able to get into the museum that day. If you go on your own you may want to try to get tickets ahead of time online - don't know if there is that option tho. Enjoy Barcelona - what a great city!

I am researching the same thing SShprints and we are trying to rent a car. There are 3 Dali museums around Figueras and for one of them you need to reserve and pay online NOW: http://www.salvador-dali.org/en_index.html

I found trains leaving every 30-60 minutes from Barcelona to Figueras (try the German rail site - it's great). http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

i thought there was only 1 Dali Museum in Figueres and his summer residence in Cadaques? There are more?? Laclaire? is this true? :) u know all.
We decided not to rent a car...we are munal-inefficient..and an automatic car is $550 for 4 days which is a rip-off. So..we're gona take a tour to Girona/Figueres like Suec said, and a bus for Tossa de Mar (about 1 1/2hrs)..and I guess the regional train to Sitges...if we decide to go there.
Thanks all!!

There might be 3, but the big one is just that and that is the one to see.

I'm probably just blowing off some steam over a pet peeve - - but wouldn't it be better to say "leaving in five days"... rather than "URGENT"?

Your failure to plan is not "our" emergency!

When you say URGENT, I tend to think you might actually have an _urgent_ need for something.

See http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34645171 - - even that was just an "ASAP"!

Anyhow, I hope you have a great trip, and get the answers that you're seeking.

And no, I'm not asking you to re-post.

Best wishes,

Rex
