Barcelona transport from airport

Flying into Barcelona - need to get to Gothic section - Gravina and Pelayo - is a cab the best/only way? There are 4 of us with bags. Anyone guess at the cost? Thanks!

I was in Barcelona a year ago. The cab is the best way since you are 4 people. It costed me and my husband around 20 Euros to get from the airport to our hotel which was just near the core.

If you prefer you can take the train into the city and transfer to the Metro...the train station is adjacent to the terminal if you don't want to use a taxi...I think the latter might be easier for you, however.

The taxis are fairly small. You'll probably need two (but it's still not very expensive).

There's a bus from the airport that goes right to the Placa (sp?) Catalunya which is close to the Gothic quarter. 3.45 Euro. Or take a cab. But keep in mind the cabbie will charge you 1 Euro for each bag.

Next month I will be travelling from the airport in Barcelona to the Hilton Diagonal Mar (new Hilton). I know there is a bus that goes to a central spot in the city, but is there a metro line that will get me from that point to my Hotel? I will only have a small /rollilng carry-on and would prefer not to take a taxi.

Topping this for you, Mauld. I do not think there is a Metro station that is particularly close to the new Hilton location but perhaps others can comment.

It's only about a 5-10 minutes taxi ride from Placa Catalunya to Diagonal.

Unless the hotel is far from Passeig de Gracias (the street going north from Placa Catalunya) it shouldn't take to long.

You'll even get you first glimpse of Gaudi work.
