Barcelona to Morocco

Hello,
I am planning on traveling to Spain from August 4-19 2016. My flights take me to Barcelona and my hope is to work my way down the coast and cross into Morocco and then back again to Barcelona.

Any advice? Beaches off the beaten path? Hostels? Camping? Modes of Transportation?

Thanks so much!

A miserable trip nowadays. Very hot, crowded, and developed. Not much "off the beaten path." From Barcelona I'd fly on one of the cheap airlines. Do not go anywhere inland in Morocco. The temp. will climb at least 20 degrees from the coast.

Morocco in August? I absolutely love Moroccor, but even I wouldn't do that.

Come to that, I wouldn't do southern Spain in August.

How many weeks will you have at your disposal? There is a lot to see in Spain without crossing to Morocco. Temperatures may go up to around 40 degrees centigrade around Madrid and Sevilla. Otherwise, it isn't particularly hot. Tons of Europeans go to Sapin in August. For cool and may be rainy weather, go to the Atlantic coast and Portugal. The Canaries are cooler too.
Instead of travelling down the coast, you may also go by ferry via Mallorca - Ibiza - Formentera to Denia and then by small train to Alicante and by bus to Murcia - Almeria where you will find ferries to Melilla and Nador (Morocco). Train from Nador to Fez - Meknes - Rabat - Marrakech. There are also ferries between Al Hoceima (best Moroccan Mediterranean beach) and Motril, port of Granada.

Then you are also quite close to tiny Maro (pop 800) with an excellent beach and very much off the beaten path. http://www.spain-holiday.com/Maro/ar...-de-maro-nerja
