barcelona to french riviera by car

Anyone ever do this?
How long?
What's the drive like?

It is about 7 hours driving time. Very easy and relaxed driving on interstate-like divided highways. Partly scenic.

Many interesting roadside spots, especially at the Costa Brava/Pyrenees, in Langudoc and in Provence.

Thank you.
If we were to spend 1 night along the way, any suggestions?
Also, after the french Riviera we intend to go into Switzerland. Any recommendations as to do this through France or Italy?

It is about 700 km and the autoroute has frequent toll stops. Total tolls will be about €60. The toll stops increase journey time.

The Montpellier area is half way. You can choose city centre, coast (Sete, Bouzigues, Palavas, Aigues Mortes), old market town (Pezenas, Sommieres, Lodeve), or Cevennes (Le Vigan, Anduze).

Note that 7 hrs is a "best" time. It can take more in peak times, in bad weather or if there are delays for accidents or roadworks.

Bonne chance
