Fortunately, I think the OP’s question was answered several days ago.

As to the arguments of recent days as to whether there is or isn’t one “Spanish” language, I think the simple point of the matter is that the English-speaking world by and large calls the Castilian (Castellano) language “Spanish”, and none other. And we don’t mean to be making any type of political statement when we do so. Whether Spaniards refer to the Castilian language as “Spanish” or "Español" is really beside the point. We commonly call it “Spanish” and everyone on this travel forum knew what the OP was asking. Just my 2˘.

I should have studied another subject at University here in Spain, it seems in philology they told me some lies about my own language..my mom said computing was better...she was right ! (mom's are always right).

Please do not tell her that, it will make it worse for everyone.

Kendy, where did you attend University? Madrid?
Don't you think that the location of University might lead to different answers?
2 side notes:
- Wikipedia has a version in "Spanish", not "Castillian"
- I knew Spain was one of the think tanks of 20th century (Ortega and others), but I just found Pedro Laín Entralgo (Qué es el hombre: evolución y sentido de la vida)

I was corrected by a taxi driver in Barcelona when I asked how to say a word in "espanol". He said "castellano". I wondered at the time whether that was a distinction more likely to be made by a Catalan in Barcelona than by someone living in Madrid.

Kendy, I was not asking your CV
Nikki, your conclusion comes close to my feeling about this subject.

I know Lobo, I just meant I am aware of the difference between the two sides of the question.
The only thing that is for sure is that exists "Real Academia de la Lengua Española" (Royal Academy of the Spanish Language) and doesn't exist a "Real Academia de la lengua castellana".
But I prefer to call it castellano, if you ask me. My mom is from Salamanca , my father is valenciano-speaking...I really don't mind about names and languages LOL
