Barcelona, Seville, Granada Itinerary
 

Hello, planning to arrive on Sep 22, 2015 with the wife and our 18 months old daughter for vacation.
Wanted to ask if the proposed itinerary is doable and sensible;

Day 1; fly into Barcelona (afternoon)
Day 2 to 5; Barcelona (five nights/four full days)
Day 6; Fly to Granada
Day 7; Granada
Day 8; Cordoba (go to Seville in the evening)
Day 9; Seville
Day 10; take an evening flight to Barcelona (stay close to the airport)
Day 11; fly home

Preferring to fly over the train for the baby as well as reasonable fare. Andalusia cannot do without! If appears too hectic, might just skip Seville? Cant say!

Well I think Andalusia is the most fascinating part of Spain and would reduce time in Barcelona to spend more time there. You need a night in cordoba and at least 2 full days (3 nights) in Seville. Also I think that trains are much easier with toddlers than are planes - since they are not so confined to seats with no options to move around.

Agree, less time in Barcelona, more in Andalucia.

Count me in with above posted; as much as I wished we had a fourth night in Barcelona and one less in Madrid, I would omit a night in Barcelona; presume you will see Alhambra while in Granada, then will go over to Cordoba. Stay two nights in Seville in the least, and would suggest a third where you can take a day train trip to Cordoba, you can tour the old city in an afternoon walking to/fro the train station. If you just stay in Seville, it's one less hotel to change. Cordoba worth a day trip in the least, but Seville so enchantingly beautiful. Trains/planes your choice, but we love trains over planes anytime.

I loved Barcelona and would never want to short change it, but I have to agree with the others to consider removing a day from Barcelona and adding it to your time in Andalusia. Personally, we did not love Seville as much as Granada and Cordoba, but I know that would be a minority opinion around here and even I don't think I would say to eliminate Seville entirely. Have you already purchased RT ticket in and out of Barcelona? You should be able to fly out of Seville which would eliminate time and hotel in Barcelona at end of the trip.

Another "vote" in favor of shifting as much of your time as possible to Andalusia. My reasons: There is much more to see in that area than you will be able to see with your current plan. You are going at a time of year that is good for that part of Spain (which can be way too hot earlier in the year).

If you haven't booked your flights yet, I agree that flying into/out of Barcelona would not be your best option. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed Barcelona, it is (I think) worth considering skipping it entirely on this trip. If you decide to keep Barcelona in this trip, try to find a way to fly open-jaw (into one city, out of another). And if you can't do that, look into options to put ALL of your time in Barcelona at end of your trip, so you can cut out one change of hotels.

Suggest you stay with your five days in medieval, modernistic, eclectic, joyful and plain fantastic Barcelona, and - as danon suggests - go to either Sevilla or Granada.

Barcelona is so much more than the obvious tourist attractions. Here are some central districts outside the most beaten tracks with great local atmosphere and plenty to do, see and experience. Kids are very welcome everywhere and also plenty of fine outdoor terraces all around.

Thank you very much for the helpful suggestions! We have the option of flying into Barcelona with departure from Madrid - not Seville. Just revised the plan;

Day 1; fly into Barcelona

I think is fine, them if you like Andalucía, you could come back another time and fly to Malaga and visit also Sevilla, Antequera, Ronda or Cadiz.

Do not squeeze in one night at Seville because it´s not worth it only for a day.

If you decide you have time, once on the ground, you could visit Sevilla as a day trip from Cordoba. Just a thought!
