p.s.
Ramblas is not my favorite street ... |
Ramblas was a perfect location for us on our first visit to Barcelona. Much to see and do in the immediate area and very convenient to get around. To each their own!
|
The Citadines Apartment hotel mentioned above would also be an excellent option, in famous and hectic Las Ramblas, 150 meters from the heart of the city Placa de Catalunya, and 100 meters from Boqueria, one of the finest food markets in the world. http://www.gardenista.com/posts/la-boqueria-market
But I suspect it will be a bit more expensive, and it doesn't beat the charm of Eixample. |
Kimhe and Danon,
thank you, again. I tried to book the unit on Roger de Lluria but my credit card was rejected. I used another credit and that one too was rejected. I called the cc companies and they have no idea what is happening because they have no record of anyone rejecting my cc. I tried to call Habitat in Spain and no answer, but it is Sunday. No answers to my e-mails either, yet. Danon, a quick question. Since we are arriving on Sunday can we expect the agent to meet us at the apartment or, do we have to go somewhere to pick a up key? Do you know? Yes Citadines is 740 euros for a studio. |
The agent met us at the apt. and showed us around.
Several other posters have used Habitat. Not sure why CC problem...hope it is resolved. Good luck, enjoy Barcelona...the location of the apt is excellent , high floor is always my preference. |
I'm sure you'll have an excellent stay in the Roger de Lluria apartment!
You are two blocks away from the Casa Calvet restaurant, in one of Antoni Gaudí's earliest buildings. Could be an experience. You can have a three course lunch menu with drinks included here for 34€ on weekdays. http://www.casacalvet.es/ http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...ia.html#photos And I highly recommend a dinner (after 9-9.30pm) or Sunday lunch in Barcelona classic 7 Portes from 1836. Tons of history in the walls and an institution in town: http://www.7portes.com/angles/index.php I never leave Barcelona without having had the wonderfool seafood Arròs caldós here: http://www.foodspotting.com/places/1...73-arroz-caldo |
Got the apartment on Roger the Lluria.. it was just a comedy of errors.
Thank you ALL for your patience and for the restaurant recommendations! I could not do it without your help. |
Great, I'm pretty sure you will love it there. I always have breakfast in a local bar/cafe, could be fabulous atmosphere and smells of coffee, newspapers and fresh bakery. For me the absolute best way to start the day. Your apartment is almost next door to La Trobada where many locals will have their breakfast/cup of coffee: http://www.barcelona.de/en/la-trobada-restaurant.html
And here are some suggestions for emblematic restaurants in the very center of your other cities. They serve local specialities and are still popular with locals and not overrun with tourists: Madrid, Casa Alberto from 1827: http://www.casaalberto.es/en/ Cordoba, Taberna Salinas from 1879: http://www.tabernasalinas.com/index_en.html Sevilla, fabulous and modern Eslava: http://azahar-sevilla.com/sevilletapas/2008/02/eslava/ Granada, Family owned and great atmosphere El Molino: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...a.html#MAPVIEW And in Barcelona, I have a soft spot for Can Culleretes from 1786, just off Las Ramblas. Fabulous atmosphere and great grown-up ladies running the place without much time for small-talk. http://www.timeout.com/barcelona/res...can-culleretes http://www.culleretes.com/en/home |
