Barcelona - Rome Viking Ocean Cruise

Hello Everyone

We are hoping to take a Viking Ocean Cruise which stops in the following ports:
I need some help with the MUST SEEs in these locations as we only have 1 to 2 days at each port.
Also if you know of any MUST Try food or cultural item, I would appreciate the information.
We would be going in the winter (December).

Barcelona, Spain
Marseille, France
St. Tropez, France
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Livorno, Italy
Rome, Italy

I'm thinking of doing a post cruise 2 day stay in Rome, thus, would have more time to see Rome. The other option is to see Florence and Tuscany. Than fly back via Rome.

I have never been to any of these locations so any information would be very helpful. Thank you so much.

Cruise ship stops are normally a matter of hours, hardly a full day. Check the ship's schedule to see just how time you'll actually have.

I checked the Viking website for this cruise. NO arrival/departure times are shown. I consider that sharp practice and would not sail with them.

We had a wonderful time with them this past year the sun stayed out the longest in July but it was very very hot. So I went to this same cruise 3 yrs ago with my elderly aunt and we went in October although the sun went darker a bit earlier the weather was perfect not a cloud in the sky and it was so cool around 60 all week. We enjoyed it, this past year I loved the cruise with hubby but it was too hot.. I like moderate temperatures and to me that was just too hot. 90 degrees is just too hot for us but the sun went down around 11:30pm and it made it very hard to sleep even with drapes drawn.

Did you see the replies to your Nov. post? I was getting ready to respond but it was with the same advice I gave then. Rick Steves and Cruise Critic port guides.

suec1 yes, I am sooo pressed for time (long story medical stuff with my family), I have bought the books just do not get a chance to research and have 2 days left to book excursions.

I did give details of what I was looking for in the other post,

authentic culture, renaissance art, authentic food and entertainment. Not interested in seeing zoos, or aquariums or history museums.

hoping i can read the books on flight but only have 2 days to book excursions and it's hard to tell from the explanations.

Cruise is iconic Mediterranean viking cruise

also need a nice hotel with indoor pool in Rome, not sure if anyone has suggestions (may do new post on it)

Any suggestions would help.

thanks soooo much
