My husband and I are headed to Barcelona in August. He is a fussy eater and does not eat seafood. Any restaurant recommendations would be appreciated.

I wouldn't eat 90% of the seafood served in this country either. But when prepared correctly, just about anything from the water is great, except mackerel. For an "any restaurant recommendation" I suggest Marisqueria at the beach. It is very good and very popular with the locals. This restaurant might change his mind about fish.

Try to get a table at Tickets, the new tapas style place run by the Adrià brothers of the world's best restaurant the past decade, now closed El Bulli.

Tickets serves up paradise versions of traditional Spanish tapas in small portions, so easy to adjust. Perfectly doable to stay away from fish and seafood. Very affordable given what you get. The four of us had some 17 dishes here a couple of months ago and payed around around 60-65€ each wine included. Lived up to the high expectations. The basic concept is traditional tapas prepared and presented as you never would imagine and with tastes to the maximum. Iberian ham, Spanish cheeses, olives, croquetas, tomatoes, anchoas, shellfish, Iberian pork etc etc plus some surprises from out of this world. Just tell the waiter how much you would like to spend and what kind of food you like, and then leave it up to the kitchen to make it an evening never to forget.

You are too late to reserve a table in August, but they leave a few tables open every night for drop-by guests, so if interested you could try to be there at opening time and see what happens. http://www.ticketsbar.es/web/en/

And Barcelona is known for fabulous seafood...

Les Quinze Nits in plaza Reial, Royal Square, good food, not expensive, outdoors you will look to the square and do grat people watch. All kinds of food.

Here are some details from my last trip, 2011. You can eat very well without seafood, although for me eating shellfish is a highlight of any visit to the city.


Loved Tickets, too...fun and delicious. Very hard to nab a seat, though.
