Natasha- looking for thermal baths? Go to the Vichy spa in Caldes de Malavella. Very nice and relaxing!

Natasha_Ramc Aug 21st, 2006 10:45 AM

Lloret de Mar: Gran Hotel Guitart Monterrey
This was recommended to me
What do you think?

SShprints Aug 21st, 2006 12:41 PM

I was told to stay away from Lloret...I hear its all packaged tourists from the UK, and doesnt even feel like Spain.

SShprints Aug 21st, 2006 12:45 PM

also..you do know that Cadaques is approximately 3hrs north of Barcelona, and very close to the French border.

Natasha_Ramc Aug 21st, 2006 12:52 PM

Thank you SShprints
I thought if i start my adventure from the furthest part then I can stop on my way back to BCN
I will keep you posted on my final itinery

laclaire Aug 21st, 2006 12:54 PM

I drove to Cadaqués the other day and it took us just under 2 hours.

SShprints- why is it important that it is near the French border?

SShprints Aug 21st, 2006 01:08 PM

laclaire: because she is coming from Paris...so if she is driving, than it would be on the way to BCN.

SShprints Aug 21st, 2006 01:09 PM

Natasha: I will follow what laclaire suggested, and stay in BCN while doing day trips to other parts...I have read that Tossa de Mar is the nicest place on Costa Brava (apart from Cadaque) but not that far.

Natasha_Ramc Aug 22nd, 2006 12:59 PM

Sarria Region
How far is this from the heart of BCN

Natasha_Ramc Aug 23rd, 2006 01:05 PM

Ok - Thanks for your suggestions and reading other posts
Almost everything is booked

Arrive in Paris on Sept 5th
Stay at Hotel de Reuilly
That night have a boatcruise on the Seine and the Illumations, go for dinner
Sept 6th - Day in Paris - Hop On & OFF
Arrive in BCN Sept 8
Still trying to commit to a place in Costa Brava - thinking Llafrance, Calella or Tamariu
Than staying the remainder of the time at Hotel Bertan

Natasha_Ramc Aug 24th, 2006 11:03 AM

Last booking: We are staying at Hotel Garbi 3*** Calella de Palafrugell, Costa Brava once we arrive in BCN

Sarria is a little "middle of nowhere" in terms of bcn city centre.
It's quite a nice family residential area but its literally on the ouskirts of the city.
Have a look on http://www.way2stay.com for a good city area guide, which also has Barcelona apartments.
I agree with laclaire on barceloneta, also el borne or gotico.
Plaza Catalunya is the centre (as you can see on the maplink).

Hello

we stayed in Barcelona in August in a wonderful apartment in the historical center. We got a recommendation of our friends that stayed twice with Cocoonbarcelona an agency that rents apartments in Barcelona. We wrote an email to them and got a quick reply concerning our request. We decided to stay in the city center as it is a good starting point. Cocoon Barcelona has a lot of nice apartments in the city center so we selected a charming one thatīs called Gotic Suite. It had a balcony and a splendid interieur. Moreover I liked the way to stay in an apartment because you live like a local or resident in the heart of Barcelona and have all commodities of an apartment (fully equipped kitchen, spacy rooms). I really recommend the agency, they are friendly and helpful. Have a look on their website www.cocoonbarcelona.com

I wish you luck to find a nice apartment.

Saludos Sira

Dear SSHprints:
Hi!
This is a completely different subject, but I wanted to catch
you on your most recent posting
to ask you which limo service you
ended up booking for your parents
trip to Rome in July.

Did you find
a reputable company to drive them from
Rome to the Amalfi Coast and then back
to Rome? Could you share this info..
I do apologize for jumping in here, but
wanted to get your feedback and thought
the other post heading was outdated and you may not look back upon it...Thanks again

SShprints Sep 6th, 2007 04:13 PM

hey welig..sorry, but we ended up not doing this...they took the train and found very comfortable and fast. Sorry I wasn't more help.

welig12 Sep 7th, 2007 03:37 AM

Hi SSHprrints...
Thanks for your response...
I bet we could take the train as well,
can you provide me with a website?

Thanks

SShprints Sep 8th, 2007 06:02 AM

raileurope.com

this should have rome to naples train..and than you catch a local train to Sorrento..I dont have info on the local train, but my parents found to be rather simple. Then you can just get the bus to any of the towns, its really simple.
When I was there, I rented a car..the scenary is magnificent.

My sister and I are opening a hostel in Barcelona. Check out our website for recommendations.

www.somniohostels.com

Unfortunately we won't be open until 2008, but we'll happily recommend places to stay/things to do if you get in touch.
