Barcelona - Parc Guell
Does anyone has a web site address for Parc Guell? I'd rather have an idea of where I'm going rather than wander aimlessly. However, I can't find a web site or map! Thanks if you can help me!

The web site for Parc Güell is wrapped into the Barcelona Parks and Gardens website. Here is the page for Parc Güell - It's in Catalan. http://www.bcn.es/parcsijardins/pa_guell.htm. The park is quite large with over 17 hectares. We found wandering aimlessly to be quite a fine way to explore this park. There are surprises around every turn. Next time I am in Barcelona, I will allow at least 6 hours if not an entire day to enjoy this park. This page shows an overall map of the park and it's trails, although none of the stuff is labeled. http://www.bcn.es/cgi-guia/guiamap4/...a&idioma=2
The park is built on a hill. There is lots of climbing: both steps and ramps. It's possible you had already found these sites. Anyone else? |
You can use the Metro to get close by but as the previous poster said, it is up a hill..plenty of steps up but worth it. You might consider taking a taxi...the place is well worth the visit if you are into all things Gaudi.

To avoid steps, and avoid taxi fare, take the #24 bus- it drops you directly at an entrance to the park- no stairs needed, and costs the same as the metro. You can pick it up in front of Corte Ingles in Plaza Catalunya, or anywhere along Passeig de Gracia.

I took the #24 bus to Parc Guell, and it
did leave us right at a park entrance, but not the Main entrance that you see in all the pictures. We wandered around a bit and saw some of the lesser known parts of the park. If you do not plan on going into the small museum at the park, you will can see plenty in an hour or so, but of course you can have a more leisurely visit, picnic, have lunch, if you choose. I found the best information in guidebooks like DK Eyewitness Barcelona. |
One more question: I'm curious. Parc Guell supposedly has hours (opening at 9 or 10), but is that just for the house and museum? I mean, it's just a park, right? If I get there before the posted hours, can I walk around inside?
Thanks. |
