Barcelona on Monday

Message: I will be in Barcelona from Sunday AM to Tuesday AM...I realize these are not the best days to visit (no museums on Monday) but I don't have a choice. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

(I can't find my message in the Spain forum so I'm reposting...sorry if double...)

On Sunday go to the Picasso Museum and Gaudes Segrada Familio, visit La Ramba. Monday if try Tarrontin(sp) just 100 k south of Barcelona for the old Roman ruins.

I posted this reply to your first question. I could not find either one under Spain. Did you choose Spain when you created your post?? If you did than you would find it under Spain unless the site is broken. I tested it a month ago and it was working.

Your origional post was halfway down the 2nd 50 threads. I simply scrolled down and chose to get the next 50 and found it at number 24.

On Sunday, go to Montjuic for the fountains at night, and for a stroll down La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter during the day. Don't miss the Cathedral and Santa Maria del Mar. Tempted as you may be, skip the Picasso museum. It is not worth your time or money. Try making it to Palau Guell, though. It is on Nou de la Rambla, just half a block away from La Rambla.

On Monday, go to Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, and stroll down Passeig de Gracia (Casa Mila and Casa Batllo). Stop by at Cerveseria Catalana (on the corner of Rambla Catalunya and Mallorca) for 'montaditos'.

Tarragona is rather far away with your time constrictions... If you would do a day trip anyway, skip Tarragona and head to Poblet and Santas Creus, on the way to Lleida.

I must disagree with Jean re the Picasso Museum. Granted that a lot of his work is not there, but if you want to see a true genus at work look at his works from the age of 11 to 16. He had realism mastered, and you can also see some of his schetches as he transformed Valaquez's work La Minines(sp) to cubism.
