Barcelona-market to gotic area walkable?
Hello, Sorry for the duplicate post...forgot to mention my question was pertaining to Barcelona. We are planning on walking from the Market on Las Ramblas to the Cathedral in Gotic Area. About how far away are they from each other? Also, any good restaurant recommendations near the Cathedral for lunch? thanks. |
They are only a few minutes apart if you don't get lost. There are very few signs, and I did get lost! It is easier going in the other direction because you will eventually run into La Rambla or the waterfront and can navigate from there.

We'll be there in early May and have several good maps.

It is about 10 minutes walk if you dont get sidetracked by the million and one things to look at and get caught up in: you will walk via some little lanes in El raval which are filled with intreresting stops and If you are going from the market La Boqueria on Las Ramblas to catedral, why not have something to eat in the market? It has a great energy. There is some useful info up at http://enjoy-barcelona.com/barcelona...na-market.html to get in the mood with la boqueria, and describes the best ideas for eating if you are at the markets to start with. Besides, the market displays always gets me too hungry to wait for a restaurant after.

Do you know that there is another fabulous market in the Gothic Quarter?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2005...n.foodanddrink Every district has a food market; many travelers assume that there is only one. |
The Gothic Quarter begins just across the Ramblas from the Boqueria market. You will just walk a few blocks to the cathedral. Do not go through the Raval neighborhood, which begins on the market side of the Ramblas and is in the opposite direction from the cathedral.
I also recommend lunch in the Boqueria at one of the counters inside. |
As I remember to get from the Boqueira to the gothic quarter you needed just to cross the Ramblas.

I have lots of food details from my recent visit, including info on the bar/restaurants inside the Boqueria here:
