Barcelona locations

Is anyone out there familiar with streets/ distances in Barcelona? We are trying to figure out the distance, and walking time, of THE RAMBLAS and CATALUNYA PLAZA from Roger de Flor Street. Gracias!

Ramblas is rather a long starting at Placa de Catalunya.
What number on RdeF? It is a long street.

Use Google Maps to help yourself.
On Google Map, enter your first address or land mark name in Barcelona, see it been marked on the map as a red A.
Then click on "Get Directions" link, enter the 2nd address or land mark name in the "A" green input box. Choose the walking-man icon just above the green input boxes to indicate by walking. Click on the "Get Directions" button. There you have it! Not only a walking route but also estimated walking distance and time.

We are deciding between the area around 130 Roger de Flor Street and the area on Las Ramblas near the Flower Market. Which is better for general touring? Both apartments are fine.....THANK YOU!

I would not stay on Ramblas...touristy, noisy, KFC, McDonalds, street kids .did not like it late at night
Roger is about 10min max to Catalunya.... The are above Gran Via and El Born
is much more attractive than Ramblas IMO

I'm not crazy about either location, actually, but I'll admit I haven't really spent any time around Tetuan metro stop which is where your first one is located. I think it could take you more than 10 minutes from placa Catalunya, but that depends if you are walking really fast or not, it's about 1.25 km or about 8 blocks in the US, by metro it might take 10-12 minutes. Don't think it's a very exciting area in particular (exactly that address).

I would not want to stay right on Las Ramblas, either, though. I think the flower market is near Liceu metro, although maybe I'm not sure what that means. There are various vendors on that street that sell flowers, but I guess they are concentrated kind of in the middle, which is actually near La Boqueria food market. There isn't any place that sells flowers that is like the big covered food market that I can think of. The wholesale flower market is near the airport.

If location is the only consideration for general touring, I imagine it would be the one on Las Ramblas, probably. YOu could actually walk to a lot of places from there (the cathdral, Born, etc.) and you probably won't want to from the other location. If you are just going to get to placa Catalunya to take the Bus Turistic or something, it probalby doesn't matter. I imagine the one on Roger de Flor is quieter but not sure what kind of places to eat and stuff are around there.

Many locals hold the area around the Carrer Roger de Flor apartment to be perhaps the most attractive in central Barcelona. Just north of the lovely Ciutadella park and the Arc de Triomf and close to the vibrant El Born district with many fabulous tapas bars, cafés, terraces, the Picasso museum, the wonderful Santa María del Mar church - one of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe - etc. The Roger de Flor apt is in a very local feel area, but it's only 10-15 mins walking to Catalunya and Las Ramblas.

Wonderful El Born begins some 500 meters from the apartment towards the sea. http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.c...s/el-born.html

We recently stayed in an apartment a couple blocks from the Carrer Roger de Flor place, on c. Ausias Marc, the other side of Gran Via and it was fine. Not a posh neighbirhood but safe and convenient. Easy walk to Arc de Triomf and beyond to the Born area. Short hop (two stops, IIRC) on metro to Plaza Catalunya and las Ramblas. Out of the tourist fray but amenities/neighborhood stores (grocery, pharmacy) nearby
