Barcelona Itinerary?
Thinking about 8 days in Spain in the Barcelona area. How does 2 days in Girona, 6 days in Barcelona, including a day trip from Barcelona to the Pyrenees sound?

great trip report!
Wondering whether we should stay in Barcelona the whole time and take day trips (which ones?) or take a train to Gerona, rent a car, and travel for about 3 days?

On our first visit to Barcelona we stayed for 7 days and never left the city. Others here find 3-4 days enough for what interests them.
During the second visit,we made a day trip to Girona...liked it very much, but one day was enough for us.
Next two trips, we just stayed around the city (except a half day in Colonia Guell)
Hope to see Tarragona , maybe Sitges or Figueres on the coming visit in 2011.
Hard to suggest what others should do. We prefer big cites, don't rent cars, like to take it easy.
You might be just the opposite.

danon-We are similar to you and enjoying the feel of "living" in a city and May is such a great time of year. We are thinking about BCNGOTIC apartaments. Any thoughts about them or the location http://en.bcngotic.com/Quisom.aspx? Thanks for all of your help!

We did a day trip to Girona by car, but I think it can be done just as easily via public transportation. The same goes with Montserrat. I would stay in Barcelona the entire time.

Hi we are planning to go to Barcelona for seven days for the first week in June. The following is our itinerary:
Three nights in Barcelona staying at the Pulitzer
Two nights in Girona - take the train there. Thinking of renting a car the second day to go to
Figueres and Cadaques for the day.
One or two nights back in Barcelona taking the train back from Girona. Stay at the Pulitzer again
Is it worth it to rent a car in Girona to see the countryside and seaside villages?
Any other recommendations for hotels in Barcelona? We want to be near good restaurants, and walking distance to places but a quiet night sleep. Also smoke free rooms!
Any ideas are welcomed!
