Barcelona in October...what to see?

I will be travelling to Barcelona in October for 8 days. What's the Hotel Arts like? Good restaurants? Sights to photograph? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

Dawn,
Barcelona is a delightful city, just being there and enjoying the sights.
The Rambals is interesting on a nice day, visit the Monastery, Olympic village cathedral etc., all these sights are worthy of a visit.
Enjoy yourself.

Be sure to see the Gaudi cathedral and his other parks and buildings. And be SURE to always wear your money belt. There is no city in Europe more notorious for pickepockets then Barcelona. They never got me but they tried 5 times in 4 visits I've made there.
I lived in Barcelona for three months this summer and its not as bad as some make it out to be. As in any big city you need to be careful. I also live in NY and you need to just as careful here. I though Barcelona was one of the most beautiful cities I've been to and I've traveled a lot. Important sites:

Gaudi (all his work, buildings, park, Sagrada Familia)
Montjuic (Olympic Stadium)
Tibidabo
Las Ramblas
Olympic Village

Good clubs: Bikini, Nick Havana, Otto Zutz. Just remember that the local partying starts after 2am.

I live in BCN, and I never have been robbed. You have to be carefuly with the money, but no less than anyone big city. You have to visit El Raval and Ribera, the more cosmopolitans neighbours in the city, where you will find the essence of the city.Itīs worth visiting Sant Pau del Camp and the monastery of Sant Cugat(better than Pedralbes monastery and only a few km from BCN by train).
PD Hotel Arts is one of the best in BCN, near the Olimpic Port(the best place to take the dinner in the restarurants that are in fashion now).
My husband and I went to Barcelona last April and loved it. The Hotel Arts is a wonderful hotel, I looked into it as we were planning our trip, but chose not to stay there. While in BCN we checked it out for future reference. It is in the Olympic Port and you would be right on the waterfront (where there are good restaurants and interesting sites), but further away from the main attractions. In April it was to chilly to go to the ocean so we were glad we didnt stay there. We stayed at the Condes de Barcelona (recommended by Fodor's guides). It was around $150 a night and we loved it. The location was great (on the passiage de gracia (sp?)) about a half a mile from Placa Catalunya and probably 1-2 miles from Las Ramblas.
Have a great time.
