Barcelona in December.

We are two friends planning on a girls' weekend to Barcelona in December. Is this a good time to go to Barcelona? We would be grateful for tips on medium priced and really centrally located hotels. Tips on night life and restaurants are greatly apprechiated as well :)

<i>Is this a good time to go to Barcelona? </i>

It depends entirely on your definition of "good time".

It will be warmer there than in January so you have that going for you.

Vague. What's your budget?

It will be the "low season" so hotels will be cheaper.

<<We would be grateful for tips on medium priced and really centrally located hotels.>>

Speak in dollars (or euros) and cents. Medium-priced means nothing.

And what's "central" for you - sites or partying?

Get a map, look at the area formed by Universitat, Verdaguer, Diagonal and Passeig de Gracia metro stations, find lodging there and you'll be fine.

It will be warmer than January, but don't expect it to be hot. We had snow in Barcelona one November.

Last December, 2012, shortly before Christmas, I thought the weather was perfect in Barcelona. Between 9 and 15 degrees Celsius (making it about 20 degrees warmer than at home) Of course, that does NOT guarantee it will be equally nice this December.

There weren't any crowds and lines were short to most of the tourist places I visited.

I had no problems with pickpockets, even on Las Ramblas, possibly because it's easier to hide valuables under winter clothing.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are fewer hours of daylight.

I've never EVER had a pickpocket problem ON La Rambla; in the METRO, another story entirely.

We really need to know what you actually WANT to do there (no, not what everybody SAYS you should BE doing...I'm certain you get my drift). Believe me, we can tell you about "those" places.

Thank you all for the tips. Just to clarify; we are two 19 year old girls and we are going to Barcelona in December (I was wondering if this was a good season to go, weather wise there) to get a break from our studies. Hotel wise, we want to live in the very center of Barcelona and we are planning on spending approximately 130 euros pr night. We are interested in cafe's , bars, restaurants and night clubs that fit our age group.

I have been in Barcelona in December last year and I think that the weather was great, between 10 and 4 celsius degrees.
I stayed in Hotel Husa La Illa, it wasn't very centric but it's inside a mall there we find all that we need. Also near this mall there is a disco called Bikini. Another great disco near this zone is Sutton and other one that was pretty far from our hotel is Razzmatazz in all of them we pass a very good time.
The restaurants that we more enjoyed was a Bar in the neighborhood of Sarria, called Bar Tomas the best dish for us was "patatas bravas" it's in the Major de Sarria 49
