Barcelona HUTB# question
How can you tell if the HUTB # is actually for the apartment you are considering renting when there are no pictures or anything but the address listed?
I am interested in an apartment. At first it had no HUTB#. I emailed the agency, they sent back a numberBUT it was for a different apartment. OK an easy mistake as the name of the apartments are similar. But then they added that wrong # to the listing,( I didn't know they added the wrong # to the listing, someone on another thread pointed it out to me.) so the 2 apartments had the same #. Not knowing that, I emailed the business to say they had given me the wrong #. They sent me another HUTB#. When I check out that number, it only has address. I am becoming a bit leery of the agency; I REALLY like the apartment, but am concerned if their lack of attention is cause for concern. |
I think a lot of clerical people might do something like that (add the wrong number to some listing). This is kind of new to them, and a lot of people are sloppy about details anyway. Putting the wrong number on a website wouldn't bother me that much, they seem to be trying to comply with the law, in any case.
I used an agency that seemed very efficient, but when I got there, I was shown a different apt than I had rented and the manager of the building claimed that was the info he had been given and there was nothing to be done about it as the other one was not vacant. What was I to do, at least the substitute was in the same building and actually turned out okay. But that wouldn't always be the case. SO I didn't know if that was really the agency's fault or the people who owned/mgd the apartment that I rented. That was Habitat, BTW. |
As far as I can make out the HUTB is listed to the individual property.
I have found this Spread Sheet and you find the same address listed, but different property numbers have different HUTB numbers. http://bit.ly/HUTBgencat |
From what I have read, they have suspended new tourist apt. licenses in the most popular areas now. Whoever didn´t get one will no not be able to. Investors are furious. Neighbors.. some of them.. are thrilled.

Interesting, lin!

I have decided to go ahead with the rental because the agency has 2 apartments in the same building and there are 2 different licence #'s showing for that address, with what appears to be 2 different apartment #'s. Thanks for being a sounding board.

I see that you also asked the same question on TA.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...Catalonia.html The Destination Expert was rather rude to you was he not? He also rents accommodation and advertises them on TA, so I would have thought he would have known. |
We did the same thing; hopefully, everything will be alright and it being a suite, would be better than the Pedrera also since the rate is higher. Enjoy your trip Deb... we'll post and comment about the apartment when we come back 2nd week of Nov. Thank you all.

Yes, he was rather rude and I thought surely as an "expert" he would know of such requirements.
Nina, I didn't realize you were going to book the same apartment! How cool - did you know about before I posted or did you find it as a result of my post? Opaldog[ from the other post] stayed in a Paris apartment based on my posts and recommendation. And an apartment in Rome that we rented, 2 others on here rented it after I posted about it. That is when Fodors is at it's best! |
Deb... we've been going back and forth at opaldog's post then you created a new post... I believe you are going end of Nov.? We're going 1st week. We were on the same boat because Opaldog's "apartment" in Paseo de Gracia was not available. Will post and let everybody esp. know how it goes.

We go in early December. Will look forward to your report on it!
