Barcelona Hotels -- Help!
I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm having problems finding a hotel in Barcelona. A lot of them are already booked for March (when I'm going) and all the ones that are still available seem the same. I've heard Hotel Continental is good, but I've heard a few bad things too. How about Hotel Turin? Rialto? I would like to be closer to the top of La Ramblas, in and around the Barri Gothic area. I'm looking to spend no more than 120 euros. Any suggestions?

run a search for apartments to rent in Barcelona. I think one is barcelonapartments.com. There are others. We had 5 nights in august this year, unable to get a suitable hotel room, in a great apartment. It's a great city if you take reasonable care in tourist areas.

I just spent 2 nights at the Hotel Turin last month. The location, near the top part of the Ramblas close to the Boqueria (spelling?) was good, rooms were clean but non-descript, and staff was very nice and spoke good english. I believe the price was around 110 euros including tax for a double. <BR><BR>I returned for a final night to Barcelona and stayed at the Regencia colon. I had a (small) single non-descrip room for 90 euros (I believe the doubles are still within your price range). However, the I much preferred the location of the Regencia Colon. It was just a 2 minute walk from the cathedral in the gothic quarter and in very busy areas so I had no problems walking around in the evenings by myself. I preferred the gothic quarter to the Ramblas for the restaurants and shops. The Ramblas in general seemed to be geared only to tourism while the gothic quarter had a more local authentic feel.

If you are willing to stay a bit further away from La Rambla, the Tryp Presidente on Diagonal is a good bet.

We have been to Barcelona 3 times and stayed at the Citadines the lst two times. The rooms are actually suites with fully equipped (aparthotel) kitchens. The location on the upper end of La Rambla is great... we paid $149/nite U.S. (booked online) for 2 room suite with kitchen and a large window directly over looking La Rambla... we loved it enough to g back the second time and next time in Barcelona we will stay there again!

have you tried Hotel Granvia on Gran Via? It is a five minute walk from the top of the Ramblas but has the following to recommend it. A double room in the back is 100 euros plus tax(ask for 113-which is actually on the third floor overlooking the courtyard)/newly renovated bathrooms/air conditioning and a great breakfast buffet for 7.50 euros. It is centrally located- two blocks from Plaza Catalunya, three blocks from Casa Batilo and a block away from several good restaurants on c/ gasp. All facilities are immaculate and the service is very good--nightime walking is not a problem. We stayed a week in Octoiber and enjoyed it. Book now- a very popular hotel with the French and English.

Paul, I tried and Grandvia was booked solid. I was a mazed that almost all the gothic quarter hotels were either booked or over our price range. So we're gone with the Turin. Safe neighborhood I hope! And being close to the Boqueria sounds good to me. Yum.<BR>

Hotel Turin is in calle Pintor Fortuny which is a very nice street in Raval. <BR>Raval beneath calle Hospital is not such a good area (barrio chino), but Pintor Fortuny is more up. It's near to the Museum of Modern Art and close to Placa Catalunya

Although it appears that the hotels are booked, they might not be. I was researching hotels throughout Spain, and in particular, Barcelona also for a trip in March. As it turns out, in some cases, the search function for availability is not set for 2003. I found this out because I had emailed about two dozen hotels to inquire about availability after I tried the room availability function on the respective websites. I received many responses that the hotels did have rooms available.<BR><BR>Before you think a hotel is fully booked, send an email message.
