Barcelona hotel for family
Hi my family ( 2 adults and three childre, 18,16,14) will be travelling to Barcelona late June 2004. Can anybody recommend a good hotel . I am looking at a 125 euro/perroom 2 rooms/night. A swimming pool would be a plus but location is more important.
Also, has anybody travelled by Bus from Malaga to Seville to Granada. WOuld you recommend it? |
Hi, Jasminou2004,
I have been searching for a "family" hotel in Barcelona as well--we are going with two teen girls this Spring. I currently have four reservations. Am hoping the dollar will improve before I have to drop a few. I don't know if this is a big concern to you, but I limited myself to hotels with suites or with connecting (not just adjoining) rooms. This disqualified many hotels. The Hispanos Siete Suiza is an apartment hotel near the Sagrada Familia. We got a two bedroom, two bath suite for 240 Euro with breakfast. This is the best deal I found--and the rooms look lovely--but the location is a little off the beaten track. (Tho it is right near a metro.) I don't think it has a pool. In the Eixample district (our preferred area) we found a suite (one bedroom plus a sleeper--probably not big enough for you) at the Apsis Atrium Plaza for 300 Euro. The suite has a hot tub on the deck. The Balmes ( 118 euro per room) has adjoining rooms, but I hear their rooms are small. The Condes de Barcelona also has adjoining rooms, and I think they are spacious. This is in a great location, but it has gotten very expensive so I may drop it. I am pretty sure they have a pool. Right now I am leaning toward the Hispanos for the better price and setup and the Atrium Palace for the location. If you don't care about adjoining rooms I 'm sure you will find many more choices. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you find a better option. Good luck! |
Hi,
Hax describes the options well. The Eixample is a great place to stay. But, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that's descent in that neighborhood for 125E/night. Barcelona is a very expensive hotel city, particularly compared with the Spain. I found reviews of the Balmes at tripadvisor.com, they are not good. A better value hotel that is close to the metro is probably a good option. |
You should consider renting an apartment. I looked into this option when I was planning. There are lots of "aparthotels" available for tourists. Some websites to check out are:
www.primerorentals.com http://www.visit-bcn.com/ http://www.lovingbarcelona.com/?sour...artment_Offers Do a google search to get more websites, but this would be great for families and cheaper than 2 hotel rooms. Karen |
Hello, my husband and I stayed at the Hotel Silver, which has a kitchen too, no pool. We absolutely loved it, it was right near the subway to get to Las Ramblas, Sagrada Familia, and many other sights. There is a tiny market down the street to buy cheese, wine, bread...The staff is super friendly and it only cost around 80 Euros. They have a delicious little breakfast. This would be worth checking out and by saving money, you can spend it at a lovely Tapas Bar!! Buena suerte!-Jcat.
